Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative showcasing divine entities, fiends, and malevolent powers increasing in strength within the city.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of the new season are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and presented the first table of adventurers who will split off from the main group to embark on their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team features the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a traditionally charged battle-oriented gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.
Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the events of the third episode show why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the group knows exactly where to head next after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing started the story’s plot—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, entering the secret base, striking the character, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The antagonist then cleared his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, above the city, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each character has a individual motive to depart the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires retribution.
- The adventurer has experience in the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty location.
- The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- But, their reputation as important members in the influential clan could enable the team reach areas they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, Teor swore a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now accompany him anywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city dangerous:
- Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This means them few options but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.
What’s Next?
Based on the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the rest of the cast members to form the Explorers and Planners tables.
Audiences can look forward to learning which players will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
