Area Police
Approximately 50 cars have been covered with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Cars, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a statement.
Law enforcement state they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.
The liquid had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Police then located numerous other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement say preliminary tests indicate the substance was probably blood from a person.
"There is still no clue as to where it came from; officials are currently not informed of any injuries in association with the incident," they added.
City officials said they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the public for details.
A high-ranking representative stated the vandalism rendered him speechless and had to be resolved promptly.
"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on social media, recalling the death of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
